New Year, New Goals...and how to keep them.

The New Year is here and my biggest goal is to stay consistent with exercise. My schedule sometimes gets busy and I generally put my fitness goals on the back burner. I’ve been trying extremely hard to make every minute count. Although I enjoy going to the gym, I’m not always able to get there on time...or sometimes I’m just too tired to get up and go.

In the past, I’ve overwhelmed myself with too many unrealistic goals, and had no tools to help me reach them. I generally gave up a month or two into the new year and forgot all about the goals I had created. This year is different for me. I’ve decided to create two basic New Year’s resolutions that will be easy to follow, and I’ve already created the plan on how to follow them.

  1. Stay active every day. Whether I workout hard or just go for a walk, I have to remain active each day.

  2. Eat more fruits, vegetables, complex carbs and lean proteins. Stay away from processed foods that aren’t good for my body.

In one way or another I’ve tried to implement these goals into my day to day life, but I never really followed through with them. I think the biggest reason for that was due to the fact that I never created a plan. I knew what I wanted, but didn’t have the tools or guide to get there.

I’m finally able to stay on top of things because of my Echo Dot from Amazon, and Alexa Skills. Skills unlock Alexa features to make for a more personalized, unique experience. You can use skills to work out, play games, listen to news, and much more. I’ve been using the 7-Minute Workout skill for Alexa a few times a day whenever I have free time and I feel so much more in control of my goals and fitness regime. Some days aren’t the best for me, and I know for a fact I won’t be going to the gym..and the best part about using Alexa Skills is I don’t have to. I can get a great workout from the comfort of my own home.

I love using the 7-Minute Workout skill because there is such a variety in workouts. If I’m unsure of how to do a workout, I can ask Alexa to explain it. I generally do a 7-minute workout in the morning, after lunch, and before I get settled in for the night.

No crowds, no clunky machines. Just my body moving through the instruction. I’m absolutely in love with using my Echo Dot and I’m excited for my workout each day. I just have to say, “Alexa, help me with my fitness resolutions” to get started.
